About me
I'm Yang, a Washington, DC-based photographer specializing in documentary-style photo & video content for events, hospitality, and retail. My inspiration for filmmaking was born in my native Havana. When I was in college, I began making short films capturing day-in-the-life moments of everyday people in Cuba - fishermen, artists, cobblers, kids, ordinary people trying to get by. These vignettes form the basis of my personal project Aseres, which captured the attention of the organizers of the Witness Visual Storytellers, an organization that brings National Geographic master photographers to Cuba. I was selected to participate in the 2023 Witness Workshop in Havana, where I had the honor of a lifetime presenting my work to renowned photographer John Stanmeyer. On the commercial side, I have helped clients with photography and video for retail, residential real estate, events, concerts, music videos, and weddings. Using my background in documentary filmmaking, I provide clients with complete workflow management, from capture to editing, including color correction and color grading, advanced editing and creation of advertising content using storytelling as the main tool.
